How fitting is this too. I’m a Blackberry lover and it would be only fitting to get capture is a review about that device. It seems Josh T, while do a review took a screen shot of Blackberry 6 new feature Social Feeds.

Social Feeds puts all of your social activities into one place. RSS feeds, Twitter, Facebook, Yahoo Messenger, Window Live Messenger, and I think a couple more. That is me on Twitter letting Laura know she forgot a female in tech when I got capture. Too cool! Ok enough geeking out lol.

So recently I have been writing content weekly for Laptopmag.com as apart of a new weekly series they called “GStyled“. This came about out of a partnership to bring the flavor we have at G Style Magazine to Laptop Mag.

It begin back at CES 2010 (so glad I went thinking back) at the It Won’t Stay In Vegas party. I met a bunch of people there including K T from Laptop Mag. Everyone exchanged cards and then went our separate ways. Following all of those meetings, I took it upon myself to send everyone a little email, just express how it was great to meet them and all. This sparked the process that has resulted in this partnership that we have now.

This is a big deal for me as I’m a fan of Laptop Magazine and used to always read their printed magazine on the regular, since I was 17. Back then I would of never thought I’d be writing for them, let alone doing so in a deal with something of my own creation. Also truth be told in the very earlier days of G Style Magazine before we went to the WordPress format, Laptop Magazine was one of my research materials for cool stuff to talk about. So each week I stop by the Laptop Magazine office, where they show me all these cool (sometimes ugly) Laptops, Mobile phone, and other gadgetry. Then I write an article giving my “GStyled” opinion on these products.

I’ve seen some very cool things since we started on this and they for whatever reason still like what I do, cause they keep having me come back lol. Shout out to Avram who loves my Laptop book bag by BUILT NY lol.

One of my goals for this year is to extend the reach of G Style Magazine and spread our brand awareness. We’ve had a ton of growth since last year and we definitely have great content. I know we have a great concept as it has been told to me by whoever I tell what G Style is about too. So the goal is to get our name out there more through partnerships and cross promotion with other very cool sites. Laptop Magazine was the beginning and I can’t wait to work with more people! So when you get a chance, support Laptop Magazine, support G Style Magazine, and check out my column called GStyled on their site.

So I was curious in the Sprint Overdrive 3G/4G Hot Spot device for maybe CES 2011. I was about to go to a store to ask some questions for it when the little chat live agent window popped up. I just wanted to ask a simple question of do they have month to month plans for it like Verizon Wireless does for their MiFi device. Instead I got this….

James: Hi! I’m a live Sprint product specialist. Are there any questions I may help answer for you today?
You: Yes. I have a question about your Overdrive 3g/4g mobile hotspot device
James: Sure, what questions can I answer for you?
You: Can you use it on a month to month plan?
You: And if so, how much would the device be to purchase it
James: I would be happy to help you with overdrive information.
James: Let’s move this chat and make it a window of its own. It will be out of the way and I can stay with you in case you have any questions or any concerns. Just click on the “Yes” button below and we can continue.
You: Hello?
James: Thank you for moving the chat.
James: Just to check, are you currently a Sprint customer?
You: No
James: Thank you for your interest in Sprint.
James: I would like to inform you that you need to sign two year contract..
You: No there would be no month to month option like Verizon Wireless has?
You: I meant *so there would be no month….
James: Our data plans include unlimited GPS, whereas AT&T and Verizon charge an additional fee every month.
James: We’re faster in more places than T-Mobile. That’s faster in download and upload speeds and we have stronger signal strength in over 100 markets.
James: We’re also the first to launch a 4G data network in the USA.
You: Ok. Thank you for the information. Thank you for your help in this matter.
James: All our wireless broadband devices connect to the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network. They also remotely access the Internet, as well as audio, video and data applications, at DSL-like speeds.
You: I’m done for today. Thank you for all of your help.
James: When coupled with a data plan, Sprint’s broadband devices make it easy to connect to the Internet. All you need to do is pull out your laptop, plug the card in, connect and you’re ready to go! You’ll even have instant internet access as you travel across the states!
James: The Sprint Mobile Broadband Network is the nation’s fastest and largest wireless data network. It covers more than 164 million people!

Smh….

Frustration? Anger? Embarrassment? None of the above. I feel like I’ve let someone down.

There was no limitation in Star Trek. Riker didn’t have to have a hotspot set up in order to chat from Farpoint Station. James Bond doesn’t have to locate a Starbucks to talk to Q. Batman doesn’t…Batman doesn’t do anything he doesn’t want to. Because it was 70 years ago, Dick Tracy had the entire AT&T network all to himself to make video calls.

Well it may not seem radical to you as the haircut has been out for some time now. But for me who has been rocking the light Caesar for like forever this was radical. I got myself a Mohawk!

I have only did something different with my hair twice, this being the second time. Now I kid when I say I’m having a pre 30 life crisis, but then again maybe that is what prompted me to do. I’ve seen the Mohawk on a few people and I’ve never had any desire to get one. So I can’t any say what brought on the curiosity to try it I asked the misses if she could see me in a Mohawk and she said nah. I also asked some co-workers and they was like nah too.

Well Saturday after the gym I stopped by my barber. I was going to get my normal Caesar, but asked him if he could see me in a Mohawk. He said let’s try it, if you don’t like it, I can just shave it off. So there you have it. I liked it and kept it. Let’s call this my Starbucks look upgraded, version 2.0 lol.

I do think it goes good with my whole nerd/geek/G Style look lol

So I just got the custom speaker tags for the Astro Gaming A30 headphones that I reviewed over at G Style Magazine. These speaker tags has the G Style logo on then and they go while with the white headphones.

I just logo my G Style logo and love being able to brand products I use with the logo. As you can see from the picture, I have a custom G Style Magazine Blackberry theme made by Tony of Cockyculture.com and I love that theme! I literally haven’t stopped using it since I installed it. If you know me well, you know I love changing my themes, but I can’t bring myself to leave this one!

Now with the G Style logo on these speaker tags, I can promote G Style Magazine when I’m on the go, since these headphones have become my main pair of headphones. You see in my last IT job I worked for an Advertising Agency, so I picked up a couple skills when it comes to marketing and branding. So I always applied what I learned from the people there to G Style

So if your in New York City and see a guy rocking the headphones you see above, that is probably me. Stop by and say hi!

Shoutout to @videosBB on Twitter lending a helping hand!

So I looking through my Twitter feed one say and I noticed someone had a link and something about a Pizzacone. When I clicked on it, it took me to a story about a new spot that had opened on 33rd street and Madison called K! Pizza Cone. Not I’m definitely a fan of pizza and this was an interesting twist to it, so I wanted to check it out.

I had it the night before as I literally walked passed on my way to a taping of The Round Table Show. It was not too bad. It was the best pizza in the world, but it was pretty good for a quick pizza on the go. I had a pepperoni and cheese one. The next day I returned with the misses so she could try it as well. She had a sausage one. She said it was good. Check out a pic of her eating one.

Not it was good and something I could see myself getting if I was in the area. However as it is on 33rd street and Madison, I’m rarely in that area, so I don’t see myself getting it too often. If you find yourself in the area or visiting New York, check one out.

I’m testing out 2 different products for G Style Magazine. I have the Motorola Droid and a pair of gaming headphones that I’m not allowed to talk about yet. If you include these 2 to the gadgets I already on me and it gadget overload.

You see I normally go travel the city with a Macbook Pro (cause you never know when you’ll need it), the battery plug for it, my Blackberry aka the mobile command center, my passport, and a variety of cables and USB sticks. So I’m usually tech heavy. Now with the Droid and these pair of headphones I’m really heavy lol

The Droid will have to go back, but these headphones will become apart of the regular equipment as I love these things. So while I currently have a lot, I’m use to gadget overload and would prefer it no other way lol.

I actually do better typing on the virtual keyboard than the physical one. And if you know me, you know I like physical keyboards over touchscreen ones. The Android 2.0 software is pretty good and I could get use to using a Android device. Once AT&T comes out with theirs, depending on which is the phone thye come out with, I’ll get one to play around with.

For the feel of it, I don’t like the hardware too much, doesn’t fit in my hand as comfortable as say my Bold 9700, but it might be ok for some. Me I wouldn’t pay a Droid. So I can’t wait to see what hardware is next for the Android platform.

This year was the first year I attended CES in Las Vegas. This is a convention that is held every year. This is one time where tons of press, companies, and various vendors all converge on one area to mingle and show off their latest tech. I attended for the first time with my partner Kyle under the G Style Magazine banner. It was a great time had, a tiring experience, but it was a good tired!

I arrived on January 6th a day before as I thought it might make sense to get our game plan set up before we attacked the show. Just the first day was crazy as we got lost trying to find the press area where we needed to pick up our press badge. We ended up walking all over the Las Vegas Convention Center, in area we don’t think we was suppose to be in to the back lot where the truck dropped off the materials. All this, only to realize that we had walked right back the location we needed to go. That itself was a adventure before the show even started lol.

During the entire show, there was tons to see, and sooooo much walking. People kept assuming that when they heard myself and Kyle were going to Vegas, that we would be partying every night, but that just didn’t happen lol. With all the walking about, and seeing the stuff, each night we was so tired, we both ended up just falling asleep. We even took naps during the day when we returned to our hotel to drop off stuff. Out of 6 nights there, we only managed to do something on 2 of those night and just barely at that!

Besides checking out all the cool gadgets, I got to meet some good people in person. Some of those included Nan Palmero, Jenae, Levar Burton, and a few others. It was cool getting to meet some of my peers int he industry that I talked to via Twitter. I must say Nan is a funny dude man! From cracking me up the It Won’t Stay in Vegas party, to jumping out the back of a Van to make the Blackberry party at the Hard Rock Cafe I think it was, Nan definitely keeps it fresh! lol

All in all, attending CES was a great experience and I look forward to doing it again next year. It was a definite good look for us at G Style Magazine to get our name our there and presence known to a wider set of people! Can’t wait for CES 2011.
